Commonly Asked Questions
Have questions about our interior design, renovation, or project management services? We’re here to guide you through every step of the process, from concept to completion.
What is the first step in your process?
- The first step in our process is always a consultation. If you are within our service area, this consultation is done on site. During this consultation, we will discuss your needs and review your thoughts and ideas about your project. We do charge for this initial consultation, as our experience will bring value to your project, and I can apply my 20+ years of experience in design and renovation to steer your project in the right direction from the beginning.
- If you do not live within our service area, we can still work with you on your project, as our streamlined and seamless process allows us to work with you virtually throughout the project.
- Additional information can be found on the Consultation Page or in our blog post, How to work with an Interior Designer.
How do you determine your fees?
- We charge a flat fee for our initial consultation. This fee is based on the location of the project and will be quoted during your inquiry.
- Should you decide after the initial consultation that you would like us to prepare a design for you, you will be quoted a flat fee for this service based on the scope of your project.
- For project implementation, we will also quote a flat fee based on the scope of your project.
- This allows you to have a clear view of design fees at every stage of the project, should you have us implement your project to completion.

What if I have my own contractor?
- The benefit of having us prepare a complete design plan is that you can easily work with your own contractor, and they will have all of the information needed to implement our design.
- If you are working on a new build and you have your own contractor, we can prepare all of the build/design selections needed for the construction, décor, and furnishing of your project. Our system and process will provide you with all of the information and documentation needed for your contractor/builder to implement the new build with all of the design selections chosen.

What if I don't have a contractor?
- If your project is in our build service area, we can quote the project for you. As a design and build firm, our contractors work with us to provide a seamless process, which we manage from start to finish.
- For more information, check out Part III of our blog series on How to Work with an Interior Designer.
What if I just need design advice and not a full renovation?
Our first step is a consultation, which might be enough to steer you in the right direction, or based on our discussion, we can prepare the necessary scope of work. This could address several individual elements in different rooms if needed. A flat fee will be quoted based on the developed scope of work.
What if we don't live in your service area?
- We provide full service interior design to most areas of Massachusetts and New Hampshire. We can also provide our interior design service to clients nationwide, working through our virtual/remote process.
- Additional information can be found on the Consultation Page.
How do we get started?
- Please reach out to us via the Contact Us page and tell us a bit about your project and your project’s location. We will reach out to you via email or phone to discuss your project further and schedule your first consultation.

Do I need a clear vision to furnish my room?
- The benefit of having a design professional with years of experience designing for clients is that we have a clear and concise process to ensure that every project we design reflects the style, lifestyle, and desires of the homeowner.
- We love to see your ideas and hear your thoughts about your project. However, if you are at a loss for direction or overwhelmed by the choices and ideas you have seen, this is a great time to hire a designer to ensure that the final result is something you truly love and will function well for your family for many years.

How do I work with a designer and still love the result?
- Working with a designer is a great way to achieve the right balance between creating an updated space and a space that truly reflects your personality, lifestyle, and honors the architecture of your home.
- The average homeowner can identify things that they like or would love to include in their space, but it takes experience and a thorough knowledge of design principles like scale, balance, composition, space planning, and material knowledge to pull all of this together in a cohesive way that suits your personality.
- A good designer will ask the right questions and listen to your thoughts and ideas to help ensure your personality is reflected in your newly designed space.
- It won’t take long for an experienced designer to identify key elements that can be brought into your space that truly make the space yours.
- A beautiful design is not a great design if it doesn’t feel good to the person that lives in the space.
- If you’re still hesitant, check out our recent blog on working with an experienced design professional.
