My Recent TV Interview- Including One Of My Biggest Design Tips!
I’m very excited to be able to share my recent local television appearance with you.
The “Barbara and You” TV show stars Barbara Foster, a local realtor, who has been doing this local talk show for about 40 years. I have been honored to have been a guest on the show several times over the years. It’s always a joy to answer questions about the design business and about the process of design.
Although being on camera isn’t my favorite thing, I do enjoy discussing the business of design and being able to share some helpful design advice when I appear in any kind of interview.
At one point in the interview, Barbara asked me, “What is the biggest design mistake that I see homeowners make in the design of their homes?”
My answer here is a very important design tip. The biggest mistake that homeowners make with the design of their spaces is selecting each element of a space individually without a lot of forethought of the interaction between the design elements. For instance, when selecting the prettiest carpet sample, then the wall color that you like the best, then the fabric that you like the best. Then, once these elements are together, you see that they do not work together in the space. In a well-thought-out design plan, you know what elements in the space will be the focal point or draw the eye. You also know what elements have a supporting role in the design. For example, in a space with other intricate design details, that carpet might only have a supporting role in your space, requiring the selection to be different than just selecting the prettiest sample that you like the best.
I hope you enjoy this interview!
Until Next Time,
Gia
