7 Ways To Bring That Resort Feeling Back Home

You might have had the experience of going on a vacation and staying in a lovely resort or a hotel. You can’t quite put your finger on it, but you can feel the sense of comfort and luxury at every turn. You return home from your trip, and you are longing for the feeling you had when you enjoyed that luxurious space.

That feeling of luxury is not an accident, and it’s created on purpose to give you a sense of luxury. There are several little things that you can do to re-create that feeling, small things that will appeal to all of your senses.

Here are a few ideas to help you re-create this resort feeling in your own home.

ONE

Add texture. Even the most sparse room can have a feeling of warmth and depth by adding texture. Texture in furniture pieces texture in fabrics and texture and accessories. Mixing finishes like shiny metal with a highly textured fabric can create interest and add a feeling of warmth to any space.

TWO

Take the time to add fresh flowers to your home. Whether it’s a store-bought bouquet or a mix of wildflowers from your yard, fresh flowers are an effortless way to add luxury to your home. It’s a small touch but will go a long way in creating a sense of luxury.

THREE

Aim for higher quality bedding. Higher quality sheets, blankets, comforters, and pillows make all of the difference in your sleeping experience. These things do make a big difference. It’s so easy to skimp on these items because you can’t necessarily see the difference. But you will feel the difference when you sleep on a high-quality set of sheets.

FOUR

Make every day special. Use all of the items that you are saving for something special. Use your good China, those special wine glasses, or that set of silverware that you use only at Christmas. Even a simple meal can feel special when you use items that help create a sense of luxury. This can genuinely make you feel special every day.

FIVE

Create an area for outdoor dining. If you don’t have any outdoor space, set up a small dining area near a window with a view. Create a conversation area that is inviting. Include comfortable seating and add comfort that you would typically see indoors like candles, throw blankets, and pillows.

SIX

Add fragrance. If you’ve added fresh flowers, as will be an added benefit. But in areas of your home without fresh flowers, be mindful of fragrance. Even the most sensitive noses or people with allergies can find a fragrance that they enjoy. I like to use lavender linen spray on my sheets and pillows, nothing strong or perfume-like. Just a mix of organic lavender oils lightly misted brings a relaxing and subtle fragrance to a room.

SEVEN

Create a feeling of luxury in your bathroom by adding some luxurious bath towels. I love using a heavy, thick, white bath towel in all of the bathrooms that I design. I like white because it is fresh and clean, and you can easily add towels to your collection without having a mismatched collection of towels. This will also make your linen closet look fabulous if all your towels are white.

Until Next Time,
