Gia Milazzo Smith Chosen for Show House
Designs by Gia Interior Design is honored to announce Gia’s inclusion in Newburyport’s first Designer Show House to be held at the historic Coastal Haven property in Newburyport, MA, hosted by The Museum of Old Newbury, July 2-29, 2016, and sponsored by New England Home Magazine.
Gia’s unique vision for this property’s living room was chosen by a juried committee among numerous interior design proposals that were hand-selected for consideration for participation in this event. This event will unite Gia’s eye for elegance and her expert upscale design sensibilities with over a dozen other Boston and North Shore designers to celebrate Coastal Haven’s traditional New England charm and luxurious coastal ambience, with each inviting room showcasing the unique abilities of each different designer.
Once selected by the Museum’s committee, each designer is given just six weeks to bring their design proposal to life; this includes assembling a team of contractors, customizing large and small design elements, redefining the functional space, and adding hand-selected furnishings, window treatments and decorations to each room, all while enhancing the existing natural and historical ambience of the room and property itself.
With historic roots in the Newburyport community as a working farm, this elegant home has been transformed into a contemporary testament to the quaint New England way of life enjoyed on the Merrimack River. Since 1877, The Museum of Old Newbury has dedicated itself to preserving the history of “Old Newbury” including Newbury, Newburyport, and West Newbury from pre-settlement to the present.
Proceeds from the Designer Show House event will be used to fund the care and preservation of the museum’s collections and historic buildings, as well as a wide range of educational community programs. Coastal Haven will welcome visitors July 2 – 29, 2016, Monday from 1pm-4pm daily and Tuesday through Sunday from 10am – 4pm daily. Please note that the Designer Show House will close on July 4 in celebration of the Independence Day holiday.
