Christmas Decorating With A Classic Touch

Decorating our homes for Christmas can be so much fun, but it can also be very challenging. There are so many decorations to choose from, but where do you start?

    • You might be adding decorations to your existing items.
    • Perhaps you are just starting to collect Christmas Decorations.
    • You may have some decorations that have been passed on from your family that are very meaningful to you, but you are not sure how to add them to this collection.

All of these points considered, it might be very difficult to figure out which direction to go. You might have questions as far as style when it comes to Christmas decorating.

Add rich color.

There are many types of decorations all in very different styles and colors. Styles range from whimsical, nature-inspired items with a more rustic feel, to items that are very trendy and contemporary, or items that are very classic.

Although all of these styles of Christmas Decor can make a beautiful display, choosing a more classic look can make it much easier to add items as you go from year to year. With classic decorations, you can always add a few touches of whimsy or a few items with a more rustic/farmhouse feel. However, if most of your decorations are relatively classic, then the bulk of your collection will have the most longevity. So, if you are someone that likes to keep your decorations for a long time, this classic look might be a good look for your home’s Christmas decor.

What items are classic Christmas decorations? Items like glass-colored ball ornaments, metallic or velvet ribbon, and the sparkle of traditional white twinkle lights. Crystal, acrylic, or mercury glass decorative items can also create a very classic look.

Choose colors that are easy to find from year to year. Use these colors for the bulk of your collection. Then you can add a trendy color in small doses.

Classic decorations can still be displayed in new and creative ways. Use some imagination, and add fresh or artificial greens and sprays to create a unique display of your cherished collection of decorations.
